Getting Album Art to Show up in Nautilus

If you've embedded album art into your music using a tool like EasyTag, it may not show up in Nautilus right away. Here's why: when nautilus sees a file's icon, it caches the icon (saves it in a special folder) so that it can be loaded faster next time. It doesn't check to see if the icon changed very often, so to fix this, you must get rid of the what Nautilus has remembered, forcing it to check again. To do this, go to your home folder, and then the .cache folder within it. Note that you may need to make sure hidden files and folders are visible. There, navigate to the thumbnails folder, and delete everything there. Now, Nautilus will check again and load your album art. This may cause Nautilus to be slightly slower as it re-caches all your thumbnails, but this is temprorary.

Errors in gstreamer

Recently, I encouncered an error while playing music in Linux with pulseaudio. gstreamer would say "failed to connect: connection refused" no matter what software was being used to play the audio. The solution appears to be quite simple. In your software's options or preferences, change the gstreamer output engine to Pulseaudio Sink. ALSA will not work, as you will eventually get this error. Any other annoying errors with (mostly) simple fixes?

First Post

This is just a first post to let you know what I will be blogging about. I love computers, and will mostly be blogging about tech. I am also a speedcuber, and may blog about that too. Lastly, I love the outdoors, so I may do a few posts about that. Enjoy! If there is something you would like me to write about, leave a comment or email me and I will do my best to get back to you.
